Location
Tarn House is situated two miles from Ravenstondale, a
peaceful and unspoilt village in the upper Eden valley
in Cumbria. It lies between the Lake District and Yorkshire
Dales national parks. Although quiet and secluded Ravenstonedale
is easily accessed from the M6 and from the A1.
From the M6
Exit the M6 at junction 38 (Tebay). Follow the A685
east towards Kirkby Stephen. After about 6 miles, shortly
after passing through Newbiggin-on-Lune, Ravenstonedale
is signposted to the right. Do not turn into the village
but continue on the A685 over Ash Fell. On descending
the fell take a right turn signposted to Sedbergh and
the Fat Lamb Nature Reserve. Tarn House is about two
miles along this road on the left.
From the A1
Take the A66 west from Scotch corner to Brough. Turn
south at Brough on the A685. Follow the A685 through
Kirkby Stephen. About 2miles past Kirkby Stephen there
is a road to the left signposted Sedbergh and the Fat
Lamb Nature Reserve. Take this road. Tarn House is about
two miles olong this road on the left.
